What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job as a journalist was as an intern at FOX News.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I have never used a typewriter.
How is social media changing news?
Social media is changing news because now everyone has an opportunity to share their opinions and thoughts on their own platforms.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
My favorite fictional journalist is Carrie Bradshaw.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To be a journalist means to document the times you're living in so that people can be inspired and aware.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
Not sure about any funny news-related hashtags, but I will keep a look out for some!
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer a brief synopsis in 2-3 paragraphs along with supporting images and documents.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use my planner, notebook, Slack, Asana, social media apps, and my trusted Pilot V7 pen.
What's your favorite social network?
My favorite social network is Instagram. I love creating and consuming beautiful images.

I wish that Elaine Welteroth followed me.
Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because I love writing, experiencing new cultures and sharing my findings with other people.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did not work for my high school newspaper. I did, however, read the news in elementary school and in college.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The story I am most proud of writing is my personal experience of finding love and living abroad in Johannesburg, South Africa.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
The advice I offer to aspiring journalists is to read as much as possible. Read the work of journalists you admire!
When's the best time to pitch you?
The best time to pitch me is in the morning via email.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The best pitches I receive are about POC business owners and how they're changing their industries.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
The worst pitch I've ever received is from someone who didn't read my previous work. I could tell that the pitch was very generic.
What's your favorite drink?
My favorite drink is coffee with a splash of plant-based milk and brown sugar.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
When I'm not at a computer, I am most likely to be at an independent bookstores, boutique or local coffee shop.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
My favorite publication to read is The New York Times.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
The most common misperception about my beat is that travel is super expensive.
