1. Introduction A colonic volvulus stands as the third most common reason for large bowel obstruction globally. Colonic volvulus is predominantly found in the sigmoid colon, accounting for 60% to 75% of all cases. It is less frequently observed in the cecum (25% to 40% of cases) and rarely occurs in the transverse colon (1% to 4% of cases) and splenic flexure (1%) [1,2,3]. A sigmoid volvulus (SV) is a frequent underlying factor for acute abdominal pain in older patients.
