Ken Silverstein’s Biography

Ken Silverstein is a long-time Washington, DC-based investigative reporter who has also been on staff or masthead at publications such as VICE (Contributing Editor), Harper’s (Washington Editor), and the Los Angeles Times (Washington investigative unit). His byline has appeared in dozens of other publications, including New York, Daily Mail, County Highway, Politico, New Republic, Slate, Mother Jones, The Nation, Baffler, and Foreign Policy. He’s also written six books, including The Radioactive Boy Scout (Random House, 2004) and The Secret World of Oil (Verso, 2014).

His stories have landed people in prison, launched U.S. congressional investigations, prompted FBI raids, led the U.S. government to seize corrupt assets of foreign officials, and brought down one of the oldest banks in Washington – Riggs, which was laundering money for various foreign dictators and members of the Washington elite. His 2014 story for VICE, “The Law Firm That Works with Oligarchs, Money Launderers, and Dictators,” exposed Mossack Fonseca, the key firm at the heart of Panama Papers uproar, long before that scandal erupted.
