Spring-area water district to invest $9.7M in new pool, rec center

The Forest Oaks Swim and Racquet Club is set to undergo construction for a new pool and recreation center this fall, officials confirmed. What’s happening? Harris County Water Control Improvement District 110, which oversees the swim and racquet club in Spring, is replacing its almost 40-year-old facilities. As outlined in a master plan the district’s board approved in January, the first improvements will be made to the pool and recreation center.

Harris County commissioners approve spay, neuter price increases

Spay and neuter costs have increased at least 50% at the county’s Pet Wellness Clinic. At a glance Harris County commissioners approved fee increases for the county Pet Wellness Clinic during its business court meeting Aug. 25. The increases will impact spay and neutering services, vaccinations, heartworm and flea prevention medicines and nail trimming, among others. Spaying will increase 212% for dogs and 87% for cats, bringing starting costs to $125 and $75, respectively.

The details District 135 encompasses a portion of northwest Harris County, spanning west of the Grand Parkway to west of Hwy. 290. The district includes parts of Cypress, Jersey Village and Katy.
