Poverty, food insecurity and dietary patterns as drivers of infant growth outcomes in rural Ghana: implications for community nutrition programs
ABSTRACT This study investigated the relationship between dietary patterns, food security, and growth in infants 6–24 months in rural Ghana. Two primary dietary patterns emerged: Tubers, Meat & Vegetable (TMV) and Cereals, Milk, and Powdered Formula (CMP) patterns. Food insecurity [OR = 1.06, p = .015] and lower paternal income [OR = 2.71, p = .005] were associated with higher odds of stunting, while TMV pattern was associated with lower odds [OR = 0.54, p = .006].
