David Byrne’s Who is the Sky? tour opens by transporting its Glasgow Armadillo audience to the barren lunar landscape, as the iconic Apollo 8 Earthrise image, slowly ascends above the horizon. The name of the accompanying bar…sorry, song, is of course, ‘Heaven’. A promise of things to come? Could be! This is not a typical rock concert, there is slick choreography and agile dancers. All of the talented musicians are simultaneously part of this heady terpsichorean mix.

Spy shenanigans with a comic twist Advertisement If OSS 117: From Africa with Love is one’s first encounter with Jean Dujardin playing the titular hero (aka Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath), one might reasonably assume this is a French James Bond spoof (in keeping with the the Matt Helm and Flint movies). It is a Bond spoof, but there’s a mildly complicated history.

In considering High Noon, one is tempted to observe that, “They don’t make them like that anymore!” but in truth, they didn’t (generally) make them like this back “then”. The story begins with the wedding of Marshall Will Kane (Gary Cooper) to his Quaker bride, Amy Fowler (Grace Kelly). Kane is a widely respected figure in the town, who brought order where there had been chaos. However, he’s hanging up his badge to open a store in another town, to accommodate the beliefs of his new wife.
