Analyzing how second-screen usage complements media consumption is, quite naturally, in its infancy. Both social media platforms and smartphone devices may have entered their second decade of existence, yet study of the fusion the two enjoy is relatively new. Accumulated research on the phenomena tells a story of systemic media habit disruption, all while underscoring a warrant for comprehensive research on the multiscreen habits of consumers.
