On Sept. 6, the NFL hosted its first game in Brazil at Sao Paulo’s Neo Quimica Arena, where a sold-out crowd saw a shootout between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers. You may have seen the headlines and had many things race through your mind: “American football in other countries?” “This is a great expansion for the NFL!” As you dig deeper, you find there are some downsides to having games in other countries.

“Champions of What…?” -- the world

Nearly a year ago today, Olympic Track and Field athlete Noah Lyles uttered the phrase that frustrated the NBA community. Lyles said he was upset that the NBA and other American sports leagues hang banners calling themselves world champions. He then added the infamous phrase, “Champions of what, the United States?” His claim is that because leagues only represent one country and do not compete against others, they have no right to call themselves world champions.

The biggest spectacle in all of sports entertainment was live from the City of Brotherly Love on April 6 and 7 at Lincoln Financial Field. On a frigid weekend, Philadelphia still showed out and packed over 72,000 screaming fans each night ­-- including my father and I. This was the first WrestleMania in the Paul “Triple H” Levesque era. Paul took over and brought that spark back to professional wrestling that WWE lost many moons ago.
