Embracing Continuing Education as a Catalyst for University Growth and Innovation
As we navigate the challenges and opportunities of this time, we encounter exciting new technologies, emerging fields of employment and breathtaking discoveries, as well as rising costs. And one truth becomes increasingly clear: Continuing education is not merely a supplementary component of our university’s offerings but a driving force for growth and innovation.
Duo in Concert | Derek Bailey & Paul Motian | frozen reeds
“This is one of those moments that we’re always hoping for, and it's so rare. And it's so hard to talk about, because it's so beautiful. It's like you're seeing some new species of plant that you never knew existed or something.” – Bill Frisell frozen reeds is proud to present the only recorded duo playing of two legendary musical figures.
Improving Your Institution with Data-Centric Design - The EvoLLLution
Not having or understanding your data can have serve consequences on your institutional growth—take the time to approach your infrastructure with a data-centric design. Every university in the world wants to know the answers to the following questions: How many students should we expect this fall? How many faculty will we need to teach various disciplines in two, three or four years? How much space and what resources do we need to teach these classes?
Threnody To Now | Robin Fox | Room40
A Note From Robin Fox Everybody, it seems, lives their own personal apocalypse. It’s inevitable. Built into the arc of our mortal time on earth is the inescapable feeling that we live right on the edge of the end of the world as we know it. It is all part and parcel of each unit of human consciousness assuming it is the centre of everything.
Inventions & Canons, by Sean Clancy
This is a collection of pieces that foregrounds sounds recorded on my phone between 2017 – 2021, a practice I began around 2014 for no real reason other than I wanted to document sounds that excited me in some way. Little by little, some of these sounds began appearing in pieces I was writing, and now (for the time being at least), it has become more central to what I do.

Hiss Lift | Jerman/Barnes | Room40
A note from Jeph Jerman What I remember … …a car on fire alongside the highway in the middle of the night. Waking in someone else’s bed in London with an entire poem spilling into my head, and then recording it with Tim in the kitchen after breakfast. Seemingly endless car, bus and train rides full of the country side splintered and refracted through glass and fatigue, always the same, always different. The screaming woman at the airport who pulled the fire alarm, evacuating the terminal.

Additive Inverse, by Jos Smolders & Jim O'Rourke
What if sounds were to fold in on themselves? Quite quickly after being 'born', even. Only to be released back into the 'normal' world of linear projection and moving waveforms from a resonant source to the ear drum to hearing and listening, some album length later? Through a looking glass of sorts, as if emerging from an anechoic chamber through the backdoor. From absolute silence into all hearing, all sound anew, flooding over, rushing in.

Harmonic Series 3, by Rafael Toral
Harmonic Series 3 "Harmonic Series" was produced in 2003 and its output was two records and an installation version, which remained unreleased this far. Beyond ambient, this version is not meant as “music” but as a sound, a sound to inhabit a space. It has no performing input and I meant it to be in motion but still, and in an emotionally transparent way.

Feedback Works 1969-1970, by Éliane Radigue
Feedback Works 1969-1970 However mesmerizing they may be, the works of Éliane Radigue which could be found on record were quite rare when I met her in 1998: “Trilogie de la Mort”, “Biogenesis”, impressive pieces composed on the ARP 2500 synthesizer between 1970 and 1990. There was also the very rare double 7" “Σ=a=b=a+b”, edited by the author and then brought out by the Yvon Lambert Gallery in 1969, which seemed to unveil a turbulent side of the composer’s youth.

*Sound System Suggestions for Playback: Since the lowest frequency in this work is 30 Hz, a very good pair of subwoofers is required to reproduce the full range of the work. Ideally, the sound system should be set to play at least 100 dB at the maxima of the standing wave antinodes.

Strands | Hyunhye Seo | Room40
From Hyunhye Seo 1. I’m exposed by the hair that falls from me in long, dark and grotesque trails. It’s impossible to pretend I wasn’t where I’ve been. 2. They’re on pillows I shouldn’t have slept on and on chairs when I linger too long. They used to shake out onto dance floors, but I don’t go dancing anymore. Not lately. They’re reminders of all that I’ve been and shouldn’t have and maybe won’t be again. 3. Sometimes I don’t even notice how they tangle around everything I own.
