(St. Paul, MN) — The Wild were busy trying to fill holes in their line up yesterday in Day 1 of N-H-L Free Agency. They signed 34 year old goaltender Calvin Pickard to a one year, $1 million contract plus former Wild draft pick Mason Shaw to a two way contract to help with both the N-H-L and A-H-L club.

(Houston, TX)  —  The Twins jumped in front of the Astros 3-0 but couldn’t make it hold and fall 6-4 in Houston. The Twins were up 3-0 after the first inning and it held until the Astros blew things open with a six-run fourth inning. That included a grand slam by Yordan Alvarez to pretty well seal the win. Joe Ryan gave up six runs on six hits in four innings of work and falls to 5-5 as he suffers the loss. That stops a modest two game win streak along with a three game road win streak.

(St. Paul, MN) — Free Agency begins this morning at 11 A-M in the National Hockey League and the Minnesota Wild should be rather busy. The Wild are on the prowl for a top line center and their main target is said to be Detroit captain Dylan Larkin who has requested a trade. Beyond that though, the Wild still need to fill in holes left by wingers Marcus Johansson and Mats Zuccarello – both played top six minutes last year – along with Vladimir Tarasenko.
