"What would Glen Ford say?" That question is one which we often ask ourselves two years after his passing. Glen was extremely prescient, so much so that his words about the 2020 election are relevant as the 2024 election approaches. There is very little happening in the world now that he did not address in his lifetime. The claim that something called Bidenomics is providing good jobs is belied by Glen's analysis of ever worsening austerity which forces workers into terrible precarity.

Kevin Alexander Gray mixed the political and the cultural as he evoked life for Black people in the rural south and makes connections with James Brown. This article was originally published in Counterpunch. At the start of the 1960s, my father Paul moved my mom Geneva, three older brothers, younger sister and me from Boston to rural Spartanburg County in upstate South Carolina. He’d fled the South in the 1940s, enlisting in the Navy.
Remembering Frank Watkins, Longtime Lieutenant to Jesse Jackson
The Rev. Frank Edward Watkins, a tremendous activist and a wonderful human being, died on September 16, one day shy of his 80th birthday. Frank was one of those people whose name many don’t know but who had a profound impact on our politics. Most prominent as a political strategist and collaborator with the Rev.
Trump Made His ‘American Carnage’ Fever Dream True
In the US, 500,000 people are dead, but the toll is higher and Covid is but one measure of public health. fb tw mail Print msg wa sms Bookmark March 3, 2021 (Julian Leshay / Shutterstock) Oakland, Calif.—On January 20, 2017, in a chilling inaugural address, Donald Trump declared, “This American carnage stops right here and stops right now.” As white supremacists stormed the Capitol on January 6, it struck me that the exact opposite had transpired during his term as president.

In Newton, a suburb outside of Boston, stir-crazy folks with the requisite pet in tow began congregating, six feet apart, at Braceland, one of our local parks.
