What was your first job as a journalist?
Not including my internship at CNN Sports, my first paid job was as an Associate Producer at WSYX-TV in Columbus Ohio.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Press Releases are part of the job, but I prefer something that didn't come off the template machine.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
What don't I use? We publish via Wordpress but I use the Adobe Suite (Mostly PS, PR, BR) as well as Davinici Resolve.
Who do you wish followed you?
I really don't care about this one. It doesn't change the way I approach things.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, I did not. I always knew that I wanted to be in television and that was not an option in the 80s at most high schools
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Learn everything. Can't take pictures? Learn. Can't edit video? Learn. More you know, further you go.
What's your favorite drink?
I am a sportswriter, it is beer. Beer is the only answer.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Who has time to read, honestly? I know I should be supporting the industry, but I get much more via social media.
