What was your first job as a journalist?

Video production for Charlotte Magazine in 2012.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Sure, but it was still an electric one.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

The lifelong pursuit of truth coupled with a desire to present it coherently and beautifully.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Canon DSLR, Tascam sound recorder, a myriad of microphones, slider, handheld rigs.

What's your favorite social network?

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was the tech geek for my high school yearbook.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

A multi-year installation of video loops pairing scenes from Nepal with information about climate change risk and adaptation in the country.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Behind my camera, on a walk, or both.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I love the New York Times' Lens Blog, and Reuters' Wider Image app is a close second.
