1 Introduction The packaging industry, particularly in the food sector, often relies on petroleum-based polymers due to their affordability, lightweight nature, long-lasting durability, flexibility, and excellent mechanical, thermal, and barrier qualities (Sun et al. 2017). However, the global production of plastic surpasses 380 million tons, significantly damaging marine ecosystems and wildlife.
