After earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Engineering from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1973, Tabari entered the family business in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). His family business, Ranya Trading & Contracting, was involved in various industries, such as electromechanical engineering, trading, contracting, construction materials, and wholesale and retail pharmaceutical products. This experience laid a solid foundation for his later ventures, where he would go on to build a diverse portfolio of businesses.
Tabari’s entrepreneurial journey took him beyond his family business. He moved to London and spent two years as Executive Director for Multiworld International, which exported electrical materials and consumer products. The company had offices in several countries, including the UAE and Washington, D.C. Before deciding to venture out independently, he also held the position of Executive Director at International Marketing & Development Company (INMA) in Saudi Arabia, an electrical and mechanical services contracting company.
In the mid-1980s, Tabari founded his own companies. He established Tathniya (TEST) Electromechanical Contracting in Saudi Arabia and later launched TEST Contracting, a civil construction and contracting business based in Dubai. Despite starting small, his hard work and long hours helped grow these businesses into significant construction and real estate players. His passion for quality and commitment to excellence guided the expansion of his operations, which included diverse projects across the Middle East, ranging from real estate development to engineering works.
In addition to his success in the construction sector, Tabari became the Chairman of Vision Investments & Holdings Inc., a multi-asset diversified holding company. Vision Investments provides sophisticated financial investment channels and solutions across the MENA region, the GCC, Europe, and the United States. His leadership and strategic insight were instrumental in the company’s success.
Tabari's ability to spot opportunities and take calculated risks has been a defining feature of his career. His involvement in large-scale real estate projects—including luxury hotels, residential complexes, commercial centers, and infrastructure—helped transform cities in the Middle East. In addition to his real estate and construction work, Tabari has been involved in numerous other ventures. His portfolio includes more than 20 businesses, including Emcor Facilities Management ME, a global company providing end-to-end facilities services, mechanical and electrical construction, energy management, and infrastructure throughout the Middle East. He also established a Thrifty Rent-A-Car franchise in Jordan and signed an apparel licensing agreement with Beverly Hills Polo Club (BHPC) for the Middle East region.
Tabari’s entrepreneurial success is not limited to his professional ventures. He is also dedicated to philanthropy through the Khaldoun Tabari Swiss Foundation. This foundation focuses on improving the lives of underprivileged Palestinian communities by advancing education, healthcare, and cultural preservation. Through his foundation, he aims to empower individuals, create opportunities, and preserve cultural heritage for future generations.
Even after stepping down from official leadership roles in 2016, Tabari continued influencing the business world. He drives expansion through his family office, which invests in various sectors, including property development, construction, and other diverse projects. His influence extends beyond real estate, with key leadership positions in construction materials, power, and water management industries. He has held board member and executive roles in several companies, including EMCOR Facilities Services Group, Vision Investments, DEPA public shareholding company, Walltech, Energy Central in Bahrain, Zimmam (Thrifty Rent A Car), and Carbon Holdings Limited, to name a few.
In addition to his business endeavors, Tabari is an honorary director of the Ramallah Friends School, a private educational institution in the West Bank. Founded in 1901 by the Quakers, the school has long been dedicated to providing quality education in the region.
Born in Jerusalem, Palestine, on January 1, 1950, he attended Ramallah Friends High School before traveling to the United States for his higher education. He has three daughters and a son and remains actively involved in various charitable causes.
