1 Introduction Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a long-standing inflammatory condition marked by recurring episodes of mucosal inflammation that lead to recurrent abdominal pain, diarrhea, and mucopurulent stools. The frequency and occurrence of UC are globally rising, resulting in a greater medical and economic impact on society [1]. Ulcerative colitis remains a therapeutic and diagnostic challenge due to its complex interplay of genetic, immune, and environmental factors [2, 3].
