Icariin Induces Autophagy-dependent Apoptosis in FaDu Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
Abstract <p>BACKGROUND/AIM: Icariin (ICA) is a well-known prenylated flavonoid isolated from Epimedium species and has shown potential antitumor effects in multiple malignancies. However, its effects on human head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) have not yet been elucidated. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the antitumor effects of ICA in HNSCC and to explore the associated signaling pathways.
Comparative Anti-Obesity Potential of Cannabigerol-Dominant Cannabis sativa L. Inflorescence Extracts via Differential Regulation of Lipid Metabolism in 3T3-L1 Cells.
Abstract <p>Obesity is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by excessive accumulation of body fat and is a major risk factor for various diseases, including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. This study investigated the anti-obesity effects of cannabigerol-dominant C. sativa inflorescence extracts (CEs) obtained using various ethanol concentrations. The extracts were analyzed by UPLC to determine their major components.
A blockchain-based smart contract framework for fraud-resistant financial product advisory
The financial services industry has long been grappling with the fundamental challenge of trust in the advisory process. In the traditional financial product-based advisory (FPBA) landscape, customers face significant challenges in verifying the authenticity and legitimacy of financial products and the advisors who recommend them. Existing centralized FPBA frameworks have inherent flaws that leave customers vulnerable to fraud and misinformation.

RepID represses megakaryocytic differentiation by recruiting CRL4A-JARID1A at DAB2 promoter
This is a preprint. It has not yet been peer reviewed by a journal. The National Library of Medicine is running a pilot to include preprints that result from research funded by NIH in PMC and PubMed. Display options Abstract Background Megakaryocytes (MKs) are platelet precursors, which arise from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). While MK lineage commitment and differentiation are accompanied by changes in gene expression, many factors that modulate megakaryopoiesis remain to be uncovered.

Python code smells detection using conventional machine learning models
Statistical test To investigate the significance of detection performance differences between ML baselines, we employed the Wilcoxon signed-rank statistical test to compare the six used ML models. In order to examine if one model significantly outperforms another model, a hypothesis test is performed. The null hypothesis states, “There is no significant difference between the classifiers.”. We set the α value to 0.05.

Development of a prediction model to estimate the 5-year risk of cardiovascular events and all-cause mortality in haemodialysis patients: a retrospective study
Discussion In the present study, we developed a prediction score to estimate the risk of CV events and/or all-cause mortality in MHD patients followed up to five years. A total of seven predictors (age, sex, DM, history of CV events, VA type at dialysis initiation, the MLR, and SUA) were included in the model. Our model had good calibration and discrimination, with a C-statistic greater than 0.80. Additionally, the discrimination and calibration were similar to those in the bootstrapping model.
Relationship among airborne pollen, sensitization, and pollen food allergy syndrome in Asian allergic children
Discussion In the present study, we demonstrated that alder pollen sensitization was associated with PFAS among children with allergies in three regions of South Korea and Japan. Alder trees are distributed across the Korean Peninsula and all areas of Japan. In Busan, alder pollen was the most common pollen after pine pollen and it had a 71% sensitization rate among patients with PFAS.
