1. Introduction Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) are a diverse category of conditions characterized by the loss of neurons over time, with debilitating illnesses that cause gradual degeneration or neuronal death. Alzheimer’s (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Huntington’s disease (HD), and prion disease are examples of this group of diseases. The two most frequent NDs are AD and PD.
