Kira Zizzo’s Biography

Embarking on a journey of journalistic exploration, I have traversed diverse media landscapes, driven by a fervor for authentic storytelling and a penchant for innovative design. My narrative unfolds through various impactful roles, each contributing to a tapestry of experiences that resonate with the essence of modern journalism.

At the Harvard Medical School Founded 11 Seconds Magazine, I hold the role of Digital Content Editor, strategically shaping the online content narrative. This dynamic entails not only fostering a robust online presence but also advocating for women's empowerment and diversity through the realm of impactful journalistic initiatives. Through calculated curation, I aim to engage audiences and amplify voices that often remain unheard.

As a News Intern at KGNU Denver/Boulder Radio, my responsibilities encompass the art of crafting compelling headlines and ensuring precise content delivery in a fast-paced environment. My capacity to delve into in-depth research allows me to unearth stories that spotlight equity and community dynamics, providing a nuanced perspective on critical issues.

The Rock/Rockmedia Newsmagazine stands as a testament to my leadership skills. As its former Editor in Chief, I have steered an award-winning publication, adapting to the challenges presented by a pandemic-stricken world. My journey here involved not only overseeing print, web, and social media platforms but also guiding a team through uncharted waters, adapting learning and publishing models for safety and efficiency.

My early foray into journalism took shape at the Castle Pines Connection Newspaper as an Intern, where I uncovered the art of reporting local events and fostering community awareness. This journey honed my skills in photography, reporting, and editing, anchoring my commitment to bringing impactful stories to the forefront.

Additionally, my proficiency in design and branding is evident through my role as Visuals/Graphics Editor for the Black and Gold Yearbook. Through meticulous coordination and training, I led a Gold Crown-winning publication team to create consistent and striking graphics using Adobe's suite of tools, including Lightroom, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

Beyond the realm of journalism, my commitment to effecting positive change shines through my engagement in public relations and community-driven initiatives.

As the Marketing Chair of the Undergraduate Women in Business Board, I spearhead the creation of empowering branding and marketing campaigns, advocating for the empowerment of female students in business-related fields.

Within the Notre Dame Media Studios/Fighting Irish Media, my role as a Designer finds expression through captivating visual creations for Notre Dame's sports teams. The Adobe Creative Suite serves as my canvas for designing compelling graphics that highlight players, team achievements, and notable news.

My impact-driven journey extends to my role as a Marketing Intern at Notre Dame University Enterprises and Events. Here, I contribute to the creation and implementation of dynamic event marketing campaigns, drawing on market research insights to inform strategies across various campus entities.

My commitment to community engagement culminates in my role as a Communications and Marketing Project Lead for Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations. Guiding L'arche Wavecrest, a nonprofit organization, I have devised strategies to bolster volunteer recruitment through thoughtfully crafted community initiatives and strategic partnerships.

A pinnacle in my journey was my tenure as Executive Director of Public Relations and Marketing at Erevna, a nonprofit organization founded at Harvard University. Here, I conducted intricate market research, led expansive media outreach campaigns, and contributed over 300 hours of dedicated work. My coordination efforts were instrumental in overseeing a massive team and orchestrating successful public relations campaigns for multiple initiatives.

Even in my role as a Graphics Intern at History Colorado, I harnessed design to create visually informative graphics for the Colorado history curriculum, displaying historically significant symbols on statues. This further attests to my dedication to merging the worlds of information and design.

My journey represents more than a mere sequence of experiences – it stands as a testament to my unwavering commitment to amplifying unheard voices, fostering community connections, and empowering narratives through the fusion of journalism, design, and meaningful engagement. With a multifaceted skill set, I continue to harness the potency of words and visuals to shape perceptions and inspire positive change in an ever-evolving world.
