A free community event bringing together people touched by dementia to remember their loved ones is set to take place at RHS Garden Bridgewater this May. Salford City Council’s Adult Social Care Provider Services invites everyone to the fourth annual Forget Me Not Dementia Remembrance Celebration on Friday, May 22, from 11am to 1pm. The event, held in partnership with the RHS, will take place during this year’s Dementia Action Week.

Salford social enterprise launches crowdfunder to reach more families affected by dementia

A Salford-based social enterprise is seeking community support to reach more families affected by dementia in Greater Manchester. Empowered Conversations CIC, which has just incorporated as a social enterprise, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to expand its communication courses, one-to-one therapeutic sessions and group support. The campaign seeks to raise £10,000 to reach more family carers who are at risk of isolation, anxiety and depression.

Talented MyGen photographer sadly passed away after being diagnosed with MND just over a year ago

Talented MyGen photographer and reporter David McLenachan has sadly passed away after being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease just over a year ago. As a team we are deeply saddened by this news about David, who in the words of the reporters’ was: “A friend to many, a kind, talented, positive and fun loving man, who was always up for a laugh. We all enjoyed the work we did together. “He was approachable, helpful, erudite, considerate, enthusiastic, and such a warm, lovable, inclusive man.
