Meta Platforms (META), the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, is facing a major lawsuit from U.S. states over claims that its social media platforms harm children and teenagers. According to a court filing on Monday, the states are seeking about $1.4 trillion in penalties, alleging Meta misled the public about the safety of Facebook and Instagram for young users.

Shares of Rivian Automotive (RIVN) are down by 9% in pre-market hours on Tuesday after the EV maker announced plans to sell 75 million shares. The offering could raise about $1.5 billion based on the July 6 closing price. Rivian said it will use the funds to meet equity requirements under a U.S. Department of Energy loan agreement. U.S.-based food company PepsiCo ($PEP) is scheduled to report its second-quarter 2026 results on July 9. Year-to-date, PEP stock has been mostly flat due to weaker North American snack sales and changing health trends. According to TipRanks’ Options Tool, options traders are pricing in a 4.14% move in PEP stock in either direction following the earnings release. That implied move is below the stock’s average post-earnings move of 7.42% over the past four quarters.
