1 Introduction In India, about 46% of the workforce is engaged in agriculture and allied sector activities (PLFS 2024). But this sector is highly dependent on the monsoons, making farmers vulnerable to various climate extremes, such as droughts, floods, cyclones (Mohapatra et al. 2025), and weather-induced crop diseases. According to Birthal et al. (2015) the major reasons behind the crop failures in India include drought (46%), infestation (27%) and floods (20%).
