What was your first job as a journalist?

Sub-editor for The Practitioner, a magazine for GPs. It was a great education in writing tight copy.

Who do you wish followed you?

I don't subscribe to having idols. I welcome anyone to follow me who is interested in the world around us.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

"I'm going to Antarctica next week, would you like me to keep a diary?" YES, YES I WOULD.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

In bed. I love sleep. If I'm not at a computer - writing or playing games - I'm probably sleeping.
