To identify people with MS at high risk of progression, we aimed to clarify whether (certain) symptoms of depression and anxiety predict subsequent neurological disability progression. In a well-characterised cohort of people with a diagnosis of PPMS, we found that symptoms of depression and anxiety measured by the HADS predicted subsequent neurological disability progression across clinician-assessed and patient-reported outcomes.
