The Milwaukee Brewers returned from the All Star break with a memorable weekend, sweeping a three-game series against the playoff contending Marlins and doing so in dramatic fashion, coming from behind to win all three games. Two of the three wins even came in walkoff fashion, including William Contreras’ ninth inning game-ending home run on Sunday.

Three years ago this week Brewers rookie shortstop and top prospect Cooper Pratt heard his name called in the MLB Draft, but he had to wait a little longer than one might expect for a player who quickly reached the majors. Pratt, who at the time was an 18-year-old high school senior, was the 182nd overall selection when the Brewers took him in the sixth round that year. In most other sports it would be virtually unthinkable for an impact player like Pratt to be left on the board so long.

Friday night’s win was the Brewers’ eleventh straight against an NL Central opponent, but there was also another interesting statistic hidden in their record against divisional rivals. The aforementioned win was the Brewers’ 50th of the season, the first time in franchise history they’ve reached that mark in 79 games or less. It was also, however, just their 15th game against an NL Central team in those 79 games.
