ABSTRACT In the recurrence of cancer and autoimmune diseases, cellular senescence, a state where cells cease division, plays a pivotal role. Distinguishing the senescence is requires a combination of multiple markers.

Humidity‐Responsive Polyvinyl Alcohol/Microcrystalline Cellulose Composites with Shape Memory Features for Hair‐Styling Applications
1 Introduction Frizzy hair is a benign problem in the everyday life of modern people. It stems from the penetration of air moisture in the hair cuticle, which results in hair swelling. In particular, in muggy and humid weather, moisture penetrates the hair very actively, leading to a fluffy and frizzy appearance. Modifying the hairstyle using flat ironing to regulate this phenomenon is a very popular method.
Drycells: Cell‐Suspension Micro Liquid Marbles for Single‐Cell Picking (Adv. Mater. 30/2023)
Graphical Abstract Single-Cell Analysis Hourglass cell-suspension microdroplets fall like a dry powder. In article number 2300486, Mizuki Tenjimbayashi, Shota Yamamoto, and Koichiro Uto report that superhydrophobic-coated microdroplets, encapsulating single to several living cells, behave like a dry powder. The proposed “drycells” have high handling flexibility and act as a powerful cell-picking tool, significantly improving the accessibility and productivity of single-cell analysis.
Tunable enzymatically degradable hydrogels for controlled cargo release with dynamic mechanical properties
Tunable enzymatically degradable hydrogels for controlled cargo release with dynamic mechanical properties† Riho Tanimoto,ab Mitsuhiro Ebara *abc and Koichiro Uto *a Abstract Here, we designed enzymatically degradable hydrogels with tunable mesh sizes and crosslinking points to evaluate the effectiveness of network structure estimations in predicting dynamic mechanical properties and cargo retention or release.
Locally Implantable Nanofibre Meshes by Sustained Release of Temozolomide for Combined Thermo-chemotherapy to Treat Glioblastoma
Locally Implantable Nanofibre Meshes by Sustained Release of Temozolomide for Combined Thermo-chemotherapy to Treat Glioblastoma Emiho Oe, Nanami Fujisawa, Lili Chen, Koichiro Uto, Yoshitaka Matsumoto and Mitsuhiro Ebara Abstract Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly malignant brain tumour that arises from astrocytes or supportive brain tissue in adults. Although there are several therapeutic options, recurrence rates remain high with a 5-year survival rate expectancy of less than 10%.

A biomimetic approach to hormone resistant prostate cancer cell isolation using inactivated Sendai virus (HVJ-E)
Our study reports a versatile immobilization method of Hemagglutinating Virus of Japan Envelope (HVJ-E) for the generation of viral-mimetic surfaces for hormone resistant prostate cancer cell isolation. HVJ-E has recently attracted much attention as a new type of therapeutic material because hormone resistant prostate cancer cells such as PC-3 cells possess the HVJ-E receptors, GD1a.
