Die Legenot ist eine häufige Erkrankung bei Vögeln und Reptilien. Legenot ist der Zustand, bei dem sich das Ei im Legedarm oder in der Kloake befindet, vom Tier aber nicht abgelegt werden kann. Bei Vögeln wird sie meist durch die Veränderung der Eischale verursacht, kann aber auch durch Infektionen, Verletzungen und Tumore ausgelöst werden. Eine weitere Ursache ist eine Kloaken- oder Legedarm Lähmung, welche bei Vitamin E - oder Selenmangel auftreten kann.

Abstract In our editorial in the January/April 2023 issue of JMLA, we spoke of the challenges we faced when we took on the co-lead editor roles. At the end of that editorial, we stated our intention to get the publishing schedule back on track and to finally tackle other projects. And while it took us some time to report it, we are pleased to share that, in the publication year of 2024, JMLA resumed its regular quarterly publishing schedule.

“Mystery Woman’s Identity Sought,” read the provocative front-page headline of The Childress Index on May 13, 1979. The story printed in the Texas Panhandle–based paper included a black and white photograph of the person in question. Shot outdoors, it depicts a slender female of around forty years of age. The creases in her face are a chronicle of worry, toil, and wind. She raises her arm against the glare of a relentless sun, her hand gripping her forehead.
