Gov. Kemp picks familiar face to replace PSC regulator who stepped down early

Veteran utility regulator Stan Wise is returning to the dais at the Georgia Public Service Commission, Gov. Brian Kemp said Friday afternoon. Wise, a Republican who previously served on the commission for more than two decades, will replace Tricia Pridemore, who told Kemp earlier this week she will leave her position Sept. 4. Wise will serve out the remainder of Pridemore’s term on the PSC, which expires Dec. 31. He will not, however, be on the ballot in November’s general election.

Longtime GOP utility regulator to leave post early

Veteran Republican utility regulator Tricia Pridemore is leaving her position next month, creating a temporary vacancy for the governor to fill amid a tense election year defined by increased scrutiny over data centers and electricity bills. In an email to Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, dated Aug. 18, Pridemore said she would be resigning effective Sept. 4. She had announced in February that she for another term on the panel, which sets the rates and profits for Georgia Power and Atlanta Gas Light.

The proposals come as Georgia seeks to keep up with the growing demand for electricity driven by data centers.
