Missouri school board member running for re-election votes to ban opponent from district property - The Heartlander
For the last four years, I’ve been digging into the questionable practices, policies and decisions in my local school district of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. In doing so, I’ve connected with people in many other school districts who are also finding themselves drowning in what I call the Deep End of Public Education. I’ve come to see public schools as a pool; the water’s shallow enough to walk in, the water is clear and you can see everything.
Kansas City, Jackson County face lawsuit over laws forcing counselors to self-censor on transgender ideology - The Heartlander
Kansas City and Jackson County are now being sued for ordinances forcing “transgender ideology” on licensed counselors, and making it illegal for them to differ from the governments’ views on sexuality. Current board President Jennifer Foley is running for re-election, and joining her on the ballot are Leon Weatherby, Michelle Dawson and Nicky Nickens.
Saint Louis Public Schools accused of suppressing free speech, dissent in new lawsuit
Saint Louis Public Schools faces a lawsuit for allegedly stifling criticism from parents and community members. The lawsuit was filed by Chester Asher, a longtime educator and education advocate, who also founded Coalition With STL Kids, a community group dedicated to improving education and literacy in St. Louis. Asher has been a vocal critic of Saint Louis Public Schools’ (SLPS) leadership, and at one point, was banned from attending school board meetings for six months.
