What was your first job as a journalist?

Interviewing k d lang. I was nervous.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I have used a lot of typewriters. Many.

How is social media changing news?

It's making it more immediate, more alive and more fun.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Kolchak: the night stalker. The minute I submit this, I'll think of another, better one.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

I think it means being honest with your interviewers and your readers as much as you can for a good read. Sometimes the real story is dull.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

Too many to list.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Never.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

My tools and software changes all the time. Generally a Mac-based product though.

What's your favorite social network?

Twitter so far.

Who do you wish followed you?

Everyone I want to follow me does already.

Why did you become a journalist?

It was the closest thing to being James Bond that I could find without actually spying or killing anyone.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Love what you do

A tampon disposal unit

What's your favorite drink?

Champagne or Monmouth coffee or water

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Riding a horse

That its glamorous
