Karen Krizanovich is known in the film industry for her work as a researcher for feature film design on major studio productions such as Wicked (2024/25), Damsel (2023), Wednesday (2022), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2020), The Old Guard (2020), Mission Impossible: Fallout, 24: Live Another Day (2014) and Gravity (2013) among others. She is a member of BAFTA, BIFA, BFDG, FOCAL and AMIA.

On a very hot day in Knightsbridge, a small group gathered in the morning to taste new releases in the company of Krug’s Cellar Master Julie Cavil. Poured into Krug tasting glasses, The Krug 2013 – described by Cavil as “fragrant citrus on a silver platter” – tasted beautifully precise citrus, clean, linear and long. Krug Grande Cuvée 169ème édition, from the Maison’s oldest plots, carried flavours of lemon, limoncello, dried fruit and marzipan.

On my first trip to Greece, The Temple of Poseidon at Sounion was the most breathtaking. Perfect in its setting on a levelled summit on Cape Souion, clearly visible to those at sea, even as ruins it suggested ancient power and mystery. It was only later that I noticed the name “BYRON” carved in huge hard-to-miss cursive letters into the stone. Shocked, I immediately I thought of my second cousin before I returning to reason. Lord Byron had graffitied this ancient spot in 1810.

As Disney IP, Moana is arguably better than most. Initially an animated feature (then its sequel) telling of a brave Polynesian girl facing legendary dangers to save her village, Moana was a live action opportunity that couldn't be missed. With its lush South Seas backdrop, Moana's quest to help nature and her people was both easy to watch and deceptively uplifting. Well-crafted, memorable tunes made it almost a singlonga. Plus it is a lot less sickly sweet compared to franchises like Frozen.
