Non-additive expression genes play a critical role in leaf vein ratio heterosis in Nicotiana tabacum L. - BMC Genomics
The middle leaves of tobacco typically ripen around 3 weeks after topping. Among the 12 hybrid combinations, consistent heterosis in the leaf vein ratio was observed both 1 week (80 days) and 3 weeks (94 days) after topping. Notably, 50% of combinations exhibited negative heterosis one week after topping (Additional File 1), pinpointing this duration as a pivotal period for leaf vein ratio heterosis formation.
