1 Introduction In the last few decades, people with intellectual disabilities have been living longer due to improved medical and social care; consequently, many of them are now living with chronic conditions that require palliative and end-of-life care (Johansson 2021; McKibben et al. 2021). While demand for palliative and end-of-life care is increasing, these needs are often poorly met due to their diverse and complex nature (Adam et al. 2020).
