We need good food for our health. Poor nutrition is linked to delayed development in kids and a host of serious physical and psychological illnesses in youth and adults. So the fact that 10 per cent of people in Toronto rely on food banks and nearly 1-in-5 families in Canada report food insecurity is a public health emergency. Government policy has failed to stem the rising number of families struggling to put a square meal on the table during the cost-of-living crisis.
