Abstract von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease is a rare tumor syndrome involving neoplasms in multiple organs. Despite extensive research in Western countries, large-scale studies in East Asia remain limited. To address this gap, we conducted a nationwide retrospective cohort study evaluating the incidence, prevalence, survival, comorbidities, and manifestations of VHL disease in Korea. This study utilized authorized data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) cohort database.

Abstract Recent advances in 27-gauge vitrectomy technology have led to the development of 20,000 cuts-per-minute (CPM; 20 K) systems aimed at enhancing surgical efficiency. While experimental data suggest that higher cutting rates may improve vitreous removal, clinical evidence directly comparing 20 K and 10 K (10,000 CPM) systems remains limited. This study compared the efficacy and safety of 27-gauge vitrectomy systems operating at 20 K versus 10 K in epiretinal membrane (ERM) surgery.

Increased risk of open angle glaucoma in patients with moyamoya disease from a nationwide population-based cohort in Korea - Scientific Reports

Abstract This nationwide population-based retrospective cohort study aims to investigate the association between Moyamoya disease (MMD) and open-angle glaucoma (OAG). In this study using the Korean National Health Insurance Service database, a total of 36,432 patients having diagnostic code with MMD between 2002 and 2022, and their age-, sex-matched non-MMD controls (n = 346,769) were included.
