The Pit Straight: The Malaysia Post-Mortem
Formula 1 took a detour from its stop in Bahrain to race at Sepang Circuit in Malaysia for the first time since 2017, and just like 2017 where he won his second career grand prix, Max Verstappen took home his 72nd victory and the first for Red Bull and Ford in 2026. Rain, as it historically has been in Malaysia, was a major storyline as Sunday’s (Oct 4) downpour revealed major issues with the programing of the new car.
The Pit Straight: Again and Again and Again
While rain may have delayed the Snap-on Makers and Fixers 250 at the Milwaukee Mile, Mother Nature couldn’t prevent the inevitable conclusion. Alex Palou is the 2026 NTT IndyCar Series champion. As we say at Frontstretch, respect the butt kicking (except we don’t say butt). While Palou’s fifth title seemed destined weeks ago, the guys still take a look at a lot more from an eventful weekend.
2026 IndyCar Season Preview & Predictions
The NTT IndyCar Series returns this weekend at the St. Petersburg street course with 25 drivers set for Sunday’s (March 1) opening race of 2026, and Frontstretch gets you set for the season with The Pit Straight ahead of a season full of changes from both the schedule and the drivers. David Malukas, Will Power, Rinus VeeKay and Romain Grosjean highlight old faces in new places.
4 Takeaways From the NASCAR Vs. 23XI/FRM Trial, Day 7
The trial between 23XI/Front Row Motorsports and NASCAR wrapped up its seventh day following testimony by NASCAR owner Jim France, NASCAR Commissioner Steve Phelps and Richard Childress of Richard Childress Racing, along with the completion of economist Edward Snyder’s cross-examination from Dec. 8. Judge Kenneth Bell extended each court day an extra hour in hopes of speeding the trial along; original estimates placed arguments around three days total. Here are the biggest takeaways from day seven.
Christopher Bell takes Xfinity win in thrilling finish at Iowa
For Bell, the win made him the first series regular to win three in-a-row since Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 1999. Sam Ard holds the series record for consecutive wins with four set back in 1983. "When it's your day it's your day," Bell said in Victory Lane after leading 94 of 250 laps. "I'll take 'em any way I can get 'em." Elliott Sadler, who started the race from pole, led the first 26 laps before he was overtaken by Cole Custer.
Nemechek fends off Benjamin in thrilling Martinsville Truck finish
Nemechek was one of six drivers to stay out during a caution on Lap 216 of 250 and managed to hold off Kyle Benjamin to win Monday’s rain-delayed Alpha Energy Solutions 250, his first series win of the season. Nemechek actually stayed out by accident as he didn’t hear his crew chief’s order to pit. So, remained on the track and hoped for the best. Brett Moffitt, the first truck on new tires, finished third, Grant Enfinger was fourth and Noah Gragson completed the top-five.
Campbell Co. farmer focusing on "local"
Farming is not for everyone, but everyone needs farmers. In fact, without farmers, there would be a severe shortage of crops and meat. Breck Light runs Bold Branch Beef in Campbell County. He has operated the farm for the last three years and is just one more farmer in a long family line. "Seven or eight generations now," said Light. Bold Branch covers 500 acres that has been in the family for more than 150 years. His herd is always between 70 and 75 head of cattle.
Officer shares coat with boy in rain
A link has been posted to your Facebook feed. (WCYB) On Wednesday afternoon, Police Officer Seth Brumfield stood watch over a rainy intersection by Thomas Jefferson Elemenatry school in Kingsport, Tennessee. There's a shortage of crossing guards in Kingsport, so when they are needed patrol officers help direct traffic and usher kids across busy streets near schools. That's when Officer Brumfield noticed a boy who didn't have a jacket.
