This week, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) announced that it will investigate 6 referrals stemming from the Robodebt Royal Commission. The decision was the result of an independent reconsideration by former High Court judge, Geoffrey Nettle AC KC, and reverses the NACC’s original decision not to pursue the referrals.

On 23 December 2022, the Supreme Court of Victoria Court of Appeal published its decision in the case of John Charles Woodman v IBAC, emphasising the fundamental legal principle of procedural fairness. This judgment has been long awaited, especially considering its relevance to IBAC’s long-running investigation of allegedly corrupt land deals in Melbourne’s south-east (Operation Sandon).
