Does the Use of Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy Reduce Gastrointestinal Symptoms after Pelvic Radiotherapy?
VMAT in the treatment of gynaecological malignancy causes significant patient-reported gastrointestinal acute toxicity and late effects. This study was unable to identify an association between the radiation dose delivered to the bowel and patient-reported toxicity. Further work is needed.This study highlights the importance of recording baseline symptoms. There seemed to be a relatively high prevalence of diarrhoea and faecal urgency in the cohort at baseline.
