A Rockville, Maryland, man was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to setting fire to an occupied Montgomery Village apartment in 2025. Robert Simms, 36, was sentenced Thursday in Montgomery County Circuit Court to 45 years, with all but 25 years suspended, followed by five years of supervised probation. Simms pleaded guilty Feb. 5 to attempted first-degree murder and three counts of reckless endangerment.
