TRIM21 facilitates inflammasome assembly and contributes to autoinflammatory disease
|
Abstract Inflammasomes are cytosolic multiprotein complexes facilitating the maturation and release of the inflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)−1β and IL-18 and pyroptosis. ASC (apoptosis-associated-speck-like protein containing a CARD) is the central inflammasome adaptor. ASC polymerization is crucial for inflammasome assembly, and ASC particle release propagates inflammasome responses to bystander cells.

Managing Technical Debt in the Age of Vibe Coding
There is a stream of thought these days that, more than ever, we must keep coding and get good at it. Why? Because with all the AI coding assistants out there, most software will contain so much AI-generated code, and we are right on track to drown in a sea of mess through “vibe code” that quickly becomes unmaintainable. Unreviewed AI-assisted code rapidly piles up mountains of technical debt, and it’s happening so quickly. Although AI is improving every day, this debt will only increase over time.
RIPK3 coordinates RHIM domain-dependent antiviral inflammatory transcription in neurons
Editor’s summary In contrast with proliferating cells, the activation of the RHIM domain–containing kinase RIPK3 in neurons does not induce necroptosis but rather an antiviral transcriptional response. Kofman et al. investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying this response. In cortical neurons, the RIPK3-dependent transcriptional response required other RHIM domain–containing proteins, RIPK1 and TRIF, that are also critical for necroptosis in proliferating cells.

RIPK3 coordinates RHIM domain-dependent inflammatory transcription in neurons
Abstract Neurons are post-mitotic, non-regenerative cells that have evolved fine-tuned immunological responses to maintain life-long cellular integrity; this includes resistance to common programmed cell death (PCD) pathways, including apoptosis and necroptosis. We have previously demonstrated a necroptosis-independent role for the key necroptotic kinase RIPK3 in host defense against neurotropic flavivirus infection.

The Brief History of AI
From McCarthy's Vision to Today's Reality... The use of "artificial intelligence" in literature since the 19th century. Image obtained from Google Books Ngram Viewer. Every year we are amazed by new AI that transforms what we think is possible. Although we are now familiar with ChatGPT, Stable Diffusion, and computer translation that doesn't suck, we should also appreciate the journey AI has undergone to reach where we are now.
Supporting women's empowerment by changing intra‐household decision‐making: A mixed‐methods analysis of a field experiment in rural south‐west Tanzania
1 INTRODUCTION Gender equality and women's empowerment are high on the development agenda, both for their intrinsic and instrumental value. A focus on households is highly relevant when addressing gender equality and women's empowerment. Households reflect not only gender and social norms, they are also a space where such norms are reinforced.
Is ChatGPT Actually Intelligent?
Maybe not… If you have been on any social media platform in the past months, I am sure you have heard about ChatGPT, Google Bard, Microsoft Bing and a myriad of new language models. All these new models, some can argue, are better writers than you and me and their English is definitely much better than mine 🥲 Every few years, somebody just invents something crazy that makes you totally reconsider what is possible.
But What is LDA? Explained using mathematical animation like 3Blue1Brown.
And impress your colleagues ;) Have you ever struggled with explaining mathematical concepts? 3Blue1Brown is my favourite Youtube channel when it comes to finding cool videos and animations explaining Math and Stats topics. I was the one who never really understood Binomial distribution, until I watched the visual explanation on this channel 🤷♀️ Wouldn’t it be awesome if you can learn how these animations are created so you can create similar animations to explain data science…
What do countries talk about at the UN General Debate — Topic modelings using LDA.
The intuition behind LDA and its limitations, along with python implementation using Gensim By Lan Chu and Robert Jan Sokolewicz. Find the code for this article here. Have you ever wanted to classify documents such as papers, and tweets based on the topics that they contain? That’s what document classification is for — it allows you to train your model to label topics. In an ideal world, you will use labeled data to train your model, which is known as supervised learning.

Plotly Express vs. Plotly Graph_object The Plotly Python library is an open-source library for interactive visualization.
Ace your next Data Science interview.
The goal of this introductory interview is to understand better your situation and a bit of your study and work experience. Nothing technical at this point. This conversation is rather short and usually lasts around 15–30 minutes. In my experience, this round is not too much about the technicality, unless the manager has heavy quantitative/technical background.
Simple Yet Stunning and Meaningful Geospatial Visualization Using Happiness and Conflict data
With Geopandas, Plotly Express and Folium In this piece, we will cover how to create stunning (I think đ) static and interactive geospatial data visualization in Python using Geopandas and other interactive libraries such as Folium and Plotly Express. This article uses World Happiness and African Conflict data for the visualization, which comes from two main sources.
Understanding Term-based Retrieval methods in Information Retrieval
The intuition behind most common term-based retrieval methods such as BM25, TF-IDF, Query Likelihood Model. What is Information Retrieval? Photo by Siora Photography on Unsplash The meaning of the term information retrieval (IR) can be very broad. For instance, getting your ID out of your pocket so that you can type that in a document is a simple form of information retrieval. While there are several definitions of IR, many agree that IR is about technology to connect people to information.
