Office Visit: Expanding Oklahoma’s nursing workforce starts with education
Lance Thomas Healthcare access is critical for communities of any size to thrive. Licensed practical nurses, registered nurses and nurse practitioners are the first – and sometimes only – person one may see to prevent or treat a disease or injury. More than 1.2 million Oklahomans live in a primary care health professional shortage area, according to a 2025 Kaiser Family Foundation report.
Office Visit: TSET investment in healthy children supports a stronger Oklahoma
Lance Thomas When children have access to nutritious food, they are better able to learn, grow and succeed. In fact, childhood nutrition is key to building healthy communities now and in the future. That’s why TSET is investing $9.4 million in FEEDOK, a new program that will provide nutritious meals to Oklahoma students outside of school. By addressing childhood food insecurity, FEEDOK will give Oklahoma children a stronger start. More than one in four Oklahoma children experience food insecurity.
Office Visit: The freedom found in quitting tobacco
Lance Thomas Two hundred fifty years ago, 13 fed-up colonies broke free from tyranny, declared their independence from British rule and established a new identity as the United States of America. Anniversaries are vital markers of the important dates in our lives. Though not as monumental as our nation’s founding, I also celebrated an important anniversary in July – the 25th anniversary of my independence from cigarettes. As many former smokers can tell you, the day we quit is an important one.
Thomas: OKC is a healthful destination supported by TSET
Lance Thomas Athletes from more than 50 countries will converge on Oklahoma City next week to compete for world titles in canoe and kayak slalom events. The 2026 International Canoe Federation (ICF) Canoe Slalom Championships will take place July 20-25 at Riversport OKC in the Boathouse District. Oklahoma City’s latest big splash on the whitewater world stage will happen two years before Riversport plays host to canoe slalom competition at the 2028 Summer Olympic Games.
Office Visit: TSET grants support care today, cures tomorrow
Lance Thomas A grateful young mother living with multiple sclerosis recently shared at a groundbreaking how successful treatments at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation changed her life after years of great pain and frustration. “I’m blessed to stand before you now on the other side of my health journey,” Kelsey D’Emilio said.
Office Visit: Route 66 at 100 – A roadmap for a healthier Oklahoma
Lance Thomas This year marks not only the 250th birthday of our nation, but also the centennial of Route 66. While the historic highway is known for its cultural significance, it also offers a powerful reminder that the places we build shape the health of our communities. In Oklahoma, preventable risk factors such as tobacco use, poor nutrition and physical inactivity contribute to the leading causes of death, including heart disease, cancer, lung disease and diabetes.
WORDS about the WORD
The Albany Lions football season is in full swing; so, here comes the football analogy! I played defensive end and linebacker in HS. To be a successful defensive player, you learn to quickly read what the offense is doing to stop their play. To that end, my coach’s favorite saying was, “He who hesitates has lost!” I heard it 1000 times. So, we drilled, drilled, and drilled some more! His goal was to teach us to react in the rightwaywithoutthinking, without doubt and without hesitation.
Lance Thomas of Thomas Guy Interiors Gives Tips For Renovating a Garden House
By: Lance Thomas of Thomas Guy Interiors Much of the past year, for us, has been helping homeowners rebuild their Lake Charles, Louisiana, homes after two back-to-back devastating hurricanes, a debilitating freeze, and the worst flood in recent history. Designing spaces like this garden house has been more than just making them beautiful. It’s been about boosting morale and giving clients a glimmer of hope that life will return back to normal.
Thank You, Melo
Melo, I’ve got a particular definition of what makes a close friend. It’s not defined by how long you’ve known someone, but by the things you’ve been through with them. With that said, Melo, you are one of my best friends. Even just writing that down feels kind of crazy, because like a lot of young players in this league I admired your game from afar while I was coming up. We both have Brooklyn roots, so you were always on my radar.

With that said, Melo, you are one of my best friends. Even just writing that down feels kind of crazy, because like a lot of young players in this league I admired your game from afar while I was coming up. We both have Brooklyn roots, so you were always on my radar. When I was a freshman in high school, I rocked braids just like yours.
Michael Beasley breaking down the human brain
Yeah but that's not true. Our brains are not keyboards and are running at near total capacity at all times. There are so many unconscious and subconscious portions of our brains that are continuously in use, such as proprioception sensations, breathing, internal monologue, everything. The portions of our brains that are capable of being put on standby are just a small percentage and when they aren't in use, usually other portions are in use instead.

Grinding for a 10-Day Contract
In the last six years, my duffle bag has been the only constant in my life. I’ve taken it all around the globe with me. It’s just small enough to lug around easily, but big enough to fit the necessities. iPod and headphones. (Gotta have the jams.) And whatever clothes could fit after that. And that’s honestly it. I never put anything more in that bag than what I thought I absolutely needed. When I went undrafted out of Duke in 2010, I became a basketball nomad.
