An engineered nanopore identifies saccharides, amino acids, peptides and ribonucleotides
Abstract Simultaneous characterization of proteins, RNAs and glycans with a nanopore remains a substantial challenge. To advance toward this goal, we introduce a multifunctional adaptor, maleimido-C2-formylphenylboronic acid (maleimido-C2-FPBA), into the Mycobacterium smegmatis porin A (MspA) nanopore at the pore constriction site.
Sequential reading of a stepwise-shortened peptide immobilized on nanopore
|
Abstract Accurate decoding of peptide sequences is crucial in proteomics. However, achieving this goal is a technical challenge, owing to the compositional and structural complexity of peptides1. Studies inspired by the success of nanopore nucleic acid sequencing have shown that nanopore-based techniques can also be applied to peptide sequencing2,3. The key is to generate narrowly distributed, consistent and sequence-dependent events during sequential nanopore readout.

Limit of detection of Salmonella ser. Enteritidis using culture-based versus culture-independent diagnostic approaches
Abstract In order to prevent the spread of foodborne illnesses, the presence of pathogens in the food chain is monitored by government agencies and food producers. The culture-based methods currently employed are sensitive but time- and labour- intensive, leading to increasing interest in exploring culture-independent diagnostic tests (CIDTs) for pathogen detection. However, sensitivity and reliability of these CIDTs relative to current approaches has not been well established.
J-aggregation induced NIR-II fluorescence: an aza-BODIPY luminogen for efficient phototheranostics
J-aggregation induced NIR-II fluorescence: an aza-BODIPY luminogen for efficient phototheranostics The development of organic dyes with emission peaks in the second near-infrared window (NIR-II 1000-1700 nm) is highly desirable for in vivo imaging and imaging-guided phototheranostics. However, the lack of appropriate molecular frameworks and the challenges associated with complex synthesis critically hinder the development of new candidate fluorophores.
