INTRODUCTION Rituximab (RTX), a monoclonal antibody targeting CD20, acts as a potent B cell–depleting agent. It is a highly effective treatment option for various rheumatic diseases by selectively depleting CD20-positive B cells. Given its impact on humoral immunity, considerable concern has been emphasized regarding using RTX throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Discussion In this study, we found a discrete increased risk of testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 and being vaccinated in patients with IRD compared with the general population in Denmark. Patients with AAV, RA, SLE and SSC had a substantially higher risk of hospitalisation, severe COVID-19, need of assisted ventilation and death compared with the matched controls from the general population and patients with IRD in general.
