What was your first job as a journalist?
As a student journalist, I've yet to actually have a paying gig. However, I have amassed a large amount of experience doing field reporting.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist meaning taking responsibility for your errors and take precautions to prevent them; it means doing the right thing.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I'm fluent in Adobe Audition, an audio editing software, and I use Google Docs to collaborating with colleagues and write on my own.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter is my personal favorite thanks to its ability to take people to news that is happening as it is happening.
Why did you become a journalist?
I want to become a journalist because I want to find the truth; I want to talk to people about their concerns; I want to inform.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I'm currently a freelance reporter at my high school newspaper, The LION.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Did a story on a protest over the high unemployment rate for the disabled, and honestly I think that is the best piece I have penned to date.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
If you aspiring to get onto your student paper, I think there's one sure way to make it: show them what you got and write, write, write.
What's your favorite drink?
Coffee!!!!
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
At Starbuck's reading the New York Times or The Chicago Tribune.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I'm a fan of The New York Time, a paper I read and take to school every day. The length, the quality and the depth--it's the gold standard!
