Why did you become a journalist?
I have the gift of gab, a big mouth, a way with words, and a need to be in the room where it happens. Might as well put it all to good use.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
My podcast "Chronic Catastrophe" allowed us to illuminate what recurring disasters do to mind, body and spirit - not just the environment.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Find your local junior college to refresh your portfolio and get connected to the local media. Take any freelance shot you get — and hustle!

Non-alcoholic: earl gray tea. Alcoholic: brut nature champagne
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Cruising around west Sonoma County, answering my 3-year-old's incessant questions about redwoods, my earrings, deer families, ponytails...
