Before that he covered courts, crime and carnage, with a side order of investigative work, at the Daytona Beach News-Journal and The Tribune of Ames, Iowa.
In his career, he's uncovered the FBI's failure to pursue traditional crimes after 9/11, computer security problems at the Boeing Company and weaknesses in safety at chemical plants in the U.S.
