Daniel Lathrop’s Biography

Lathrop teaches reporting and writing at the University of Iowa and freelances for national and regional news organizations. Mostly, he's geek lucky enough to live in an era where that helps him commit acts of serious, investigative journalism. He teach

He's been a full-time investigative reporter at The Dallas Morning News, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer (RIP) and the Center for Public Integrity.

Before that he covered courts, crime and carnage, with a side order of investigative work, at the Daytona Beach News-Journal and The Tribune of Ames, Iowa.

In his career, he's uncovered the FBI's failure to pursue traditional crimes after 9/11, computer security problems at the Boeing Company and weaknesses in safety at chemical plants in the U.S.
