Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

I was a critic for The Cappies, which is a high school theater program.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

At my mother's office back in the late 80's (I'm dating myself here for sure...) I used to take every opportunity to type on the typewriter.

How is social media changing news?

Speed.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email or social.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I use Google Drive for everything, because making things easily shareable/editable is key.

What's your favorite social network?

Instagram. I'm heavily impacted by visual media.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I wrote theater reviews for the high school paper as well as our local and regional newspapers.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I wrote a piece about safety on set that I'm really proud of, because I think it is such an important issue.

What's your favorite drink?

A good glass of wine.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

On a long walk with my headphones in, listening to music or something new on my Audible account.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

I think there's a lot of imposter syndrome when it comes to women in entertainment. Don't feel like you can't pitch!
