I started writing pieces in high school and then created a blog, did some contributor pieces and then was hired by Popwrapped

It has drastically sped up the news cycle with real time input from both news subjects and the general public

What does it mean to be a journalist?
To present facts and evidence to support those facts so that the public is informed about current events

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Politely and with focused information. I don’t need the life story of a person pitching, just the facts and relevant links.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Google for documents, research and links to research. Grammarly, Trello, Twitter.

Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because I am fascinated with current events and feel the public needs to be informed.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No, but I had poems and pieces published in the school paper and in our city’s public library publication.

The story on Greg Abbott’s abortion ban
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Verify your information and have integrity.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Midday during the work week
What's the best pitch you ever got?
A pitch from a soap opera actor/ musician who was included all relevant information, was concise in sharing it, and available for follow up
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
A pitch from a musician who hyped themselves up but only shared a link to a poorly produced demo with no online presence whatsoever.

In the music studio.

The New York Times
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That it’s only about music when it encompasses pop culture as a whole.
