Buloke Mayor Graeme Milne likened the police presence this week in Donald - a town with a population of nearly 1500 - akin to the hunt for police killer Desi Freeman. “The community has been very concerned about the goings on, and I guess the police presence and the numbers that have been in town over the last three or four days have raised a lot of concerns about the seriousness of the missing person, and with that, it brought the idea that the story wasn't going to end well,” Cr Milne said.

Teenager arrested over death of Donald girl

Donald teenager Layla Jeffrey went missing on Saturday and her remains were located late on Thursday. Detective Inspector Dave Dunstan, of the Victoria Police Missing Persons Squad. A large contingent of emergency services personnel gathered at Donald Police Station. The Byrne Street bushland where Layla's remains were found. The Victoria Police Mounted Branch assisted in the search for evidence. The small town of Donald has been left devasted by the teenager's death.
