Abstract Reaching the Paris Agreement target to limit global warming below 1.5 °C requires both decarbonization and the removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Here, we highlight three challenges to marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) (knowledge gaps, ecological and social risks, and inadequate governance), which must be addressed before considering mCDR as a scalable climate solution.

Lesbian Jesus, Hayley Kiyoko, is back with her latest single and “For The Girls” is the queerest track yet from her upcoming sophomore album Panorama. The track is an electro tinged pop bop with a nod to the funkier quirks that make Janelle Monae such an interesting star. In a way it’s a reimagining and much bigger budget version of Kiyoko’s early hit “Girls Like Girls”, both with their messages of female empowerment and love.

It quickly disappears, but this fact in itself sets up the experimental nature of the New-York art-punks’ latest. The catchy first single “Doers” with its chant of “it’s making me bitter, harder, fatter, stressed out” is a delightfully fun take on the culture of never-ending productivity we find ourselves fitfully living through.
